Paralympics 2010 Yippee!

Do you know about the Olympics? Well, I do so I’ll tell you. The Olympic Games started in the Greek city called Olympia. In the beginning, every competitor had to be Greek born.

The first sort of modern Olympic Games began in 1896. Wow! That’s over 100 years ago! Little by little the games became what they are today.

Guess what the best part is? Well, it’s the fact you don’t have to be perfect to become a contestant in the Olympics anymore.

How cool is that? Finally, just like now there is a wheelchair accessible motorcycle, there are Olympic games for disabled athletes! In fact, there are ten days of Winter Paralympics in 2010.

Disabled competitors will compete in sports like ice sledge hockey, wheelchair curling, Alpine skiing, Biathlon and Cross Country skiing. I have a good friend and he is a blind figure skater.  His name is Stash Serafin and he can do the spins and everything. He even teaches sighted people how to skate. I think what great things disabled guys can do if they just believe that they can.
