Bullies & A Kid Reacting
Now, as summer approaches and you are going to be with some new kids, you need to make one change if you have been bullied in the past. I want you to think about something very important. Is it possible that you caused the repeated bullying events directed at you? I bet you are saying “NO.” Guess what? You are wrong.
So, think again! You need to ask yourself a few questions. What are you being teased about? Is it your weight, your clothes, the color of your skin or a special need to name a few? Well, now look around you? (If you can’t see with your eyes, ask a trusted friend to look around for you.) What kind of kids do you see? Are there any like you? Are there heavy or skinny kids? Are there kids who dress like you do? Are there kids who have your same skin color? Are there kids with special needs like yours?
I know the answers to these questions are all “yes.” So now, think about it. Are all of those other kids being teased? You will be right when you say “no.”
Can you guess why you are being teased and they aren’t? When a bully tried to bully them the first time, they didn’t care. They didn’t react. The bullies had no fun with them. They have fun with you because you react.
Bullies are happy when a kid gets sad, angry or shows any emotion. They want reactions. Reactions from a bullied kid make the bullies so happy. Go back and read my post about the kid with the Santa Hat. See how I acted and what didn’t happen to me. I didn’t get bullied. You need to act the way I acted. If you act like I did, the bullies won’t have fun bullying you so the bullying will stop. Try it. It really works.
