Physical Bullying

So here is another tip for kids before summer camps and other activities begin.

Hopefully there won’t be kids who will be physical bullies BUT if there are, kids need to do a few things to keep safe. If a kid is afraid of real danger with a bully, an adult MUST be told so that the bullied kid will stay safe.

A lot of times though, a kid can avoid being near the bully. If that isn’t possible and the bully does something to a kid that will make the kid react and get physical back, that won’t help. In fact it might cause more problems.

If possible, a kid should try to pretend he didn’t notice the shove or hit that the bully gave him. It’s hard but the bully wants a reaction and if a kid doesn’t give him a reaction, the bully won’t be having any fun bullying. If he isn’t having fun, he will move on.

If the bullied kid can avoid “tattling” on the bully, that is best. This is only true if the bully is not dangerous. The bullied kid needs to think about what is really going on. It’s hard but if you are a bullied kid, you can and must take charge of your own actions and reactions.

You will take charge of yourself, right?
