A Swimmer
Guess what? My human brother’s godfather did something so way cool! Talk about working hard to achieve something…we are all so proud of him.
He will turn sixty in February of 2011 and he always said he would swim the English Channel before he turned sixty. Guess what? He just did it be cause he believed in himself! The English Channel is about twenty one miles wide at its shortest distance.
To do this amazing swim, everyone must follow strict rules:
Swimmers can only wear one bathing suit, one uninsulated cap, goggles, ear plugs,and grease or sunblock. There is a boat that goes along with the swimmers but they aren’t allowed to touch it. They get special liquid food along the way which is on ropes in bottles and protein bars.
It’s so difficult and often the swimmers get cramps. I’m not sure that even I could do that even before I needed Zoomie.
When it gets dark they wear those little green light sticks in their goggles. They can have ibuprofen for the pain. Usually, it takes more than twelve hours. Can you believe that a fifty nine year old man can swim for more than twelve hours non stop?
This is just one more lesson in what I always say. If you believe it, you can achieve it! Yippee for Alex!!! You made us so proud to know you!!!
