Halloween & Special Needs

Parents, please help your kids think of costumes that will help their self esteem, not hurt it. If their schools have parades, this is a big deal to them.

What comes to mind is the mother of a young girl named Mary Kate. She realized that her daughter needed a costume that would work with her wheelchair.

She made a costume for Mary Kate that went all around her wheelchair and looked like a cupcake. She made a hat for Mary Kate that looked like the frosting on the cupcake. Mary Kate was definitely part of the group and felt good about herself.

Parents need to show the world that they are proud of their kids and what they are accomplishing, even if they have disabilities! Mary Kate’s mom is the kind of mom that all special needs kids should have!

If you have any ideas for costumes for special needs kids, please share them.

Lovwd this idea. I have to find the pics, but one year my husband I I wanted to go as something that was fun and could work with his motorized chair. I went as a cow and he went as the farmer and we made his chair look like a tractor. We won first place for best costume!
