This post is a bit different from most. It is being written in an effort to share a lesson that several kids learned too late to save their friend’s life.
Last year an 18 year old young man died in a car accident. He had not been drinking but the others involved in the accident had been. The kids involved in the accident did not call 911 because they were afraid that they would get DUIs or have more consequences.
They waited and did nothing to save their friend’s life because they were more caught up in their own issues and needs.
At some point they brought their friend back to his home and dropped his body in the front yard. When his parents found him, they called 911. It was too late. Blood had filled his lungs and he died.
Parents please impress upon your kids the fact that possible death is not to be taking lightly. If they make small mistakes, life goes on. If they make poor choices that ends a life, that’s all there is to it. There are no take backs and then “It’s too late for sorry.”
