Rescue: The Gift of Love

It is so exciting to rescue and foster an animal and then have that animal connect with you and become a member of your family.

This our new little girl Maggie Mac. She didn’t always look like this. She had a worried look all of the time.

When she got here, she was afraid and wouldn’t let us pet her head. We fostered Maggie Mac and were lucky enough to have been allowed to keep her.

In the beginning of our relationship, we would reach out to her and she would run and hide. She was the escape queen and tried to run away every chance she got. Maggie didn’t trust us. She needed to learn that she could.

The exciting news is that now she comes running when her name is called. She hears my whistle and can’t get to me fast enough. She doesn’t even need to be on a leash outside.

Maggie Mac sleeps in my bed and has almost reached the point that she cuddles.

What an absolutely amazing and rewarding feeling. With Maggie Mac truly came the gift of love because after all, she is just a dog.
