Our Heroes in Japan

Until today, I had been unaware that corgis have become such an important part of the lives of many Japanese people.

When someone shared these pictures today and I saw the grief and devastation that these people were experiencing with their little corgi angels right there with them, my eyes filled with tears.

To the people of Japan, our thoughts and prayers are with you. To suffer such devastation is beyond what most of us can even imagine. As you continue live through the anguish that the earthquake and subsequent tsunami created, you become heroes for the rest of the world.

How appropriate it is that people who posses the kind of courage, kindness and dignity that the Japanese people posses, would select corgis as pets. Only a corgi owner understands the intelligence, courage and loyalty that a corgi exemplifies.

You offer proof that of the fact that you understand something about tragedy, life and death that most of the world just doesn’t get. You understand adversity and posses an inner strength that astounds each and every one of us.

Even though we are so far away and can’t comprehend the scope of what you are experiencing, we care deeply.  To all of you who are suffering the losses of family members, friends, homes and pets, please know that those of us living a world away, have you in our thoughts and prayers constantly.

Can anyone tell me where that first pic is from or what’s happening exactly in it? It just completely breaks my heart….
