What should you do if you or someone you know is being bullied?
Appropriate actions
- If you or someone you know is in eminent danger because of bulling: Call 911 Immediately!
- If you or someone you know is talking about or thinking about suicide: Contact the suicide prevention hotline. 1-800-273-8255. There is no time to waste. Make this call immediately.
- If you or someone you know has a teacher who isn’t doing anything to stop the bullying: Contact the Principal or Superintendent.
- If you or someone you know doesn’t feel safe at school: Contact the State School Department.
- If you or someone you know is stressed out from bulling events: Contact a school guidance counselor or other health professional.
- If you or someone you know is being bullied because of race, disability or ethnicity: Contact The U.S. Department of Education’s Office on Civil Rights.
Please keep this information handy. Even if you aren’t sure that anyone in your family might be involved, place this in a visible location. That way, if the numbers are needed they will be readily available.
