Everybody Should Embrace Differences But Not Lady Gaga!

The emails have poured in since I wrote the post singing the praises of Lady Gaga for speaking out against bullies. Please allow me to make a clarification. I don’t care for her music and I don’t care for her appearance or the language she uses. However, my music preferences have nothing to do with this.

I believe that Lady Gaga deserves credit for her part in helping kids who have been bullied feel better about themselves. This site is all about helping people of all ages to overcome adversity and embrace their differences. Wouldn’t it be hypocritical to say that it’s good for some people to embrace their differences but not the Lady Gaga’s in the world?

Lady Gaga was born Stefani Germanotta and grew up in New York City. She has shared with media the fact that she was the brunt of bullying because of her weight, big nose and strange make up. She was even called a slut by her classmates. She  speaks out about her experiences in an effort to help kids overcome bullying in their lives.

Whether or not you like her, her music or her behavior isn’t important. Lady Gaga is making a difference for the “different” kids in the world. The kids relate to her and if she spurns more self esteem that helps even one child deal with bullying, isn’t that a good thing?

Just saw Lady Gaga on GMA this morning. She performed several songs and was interviewed as well. She did bring up bullying but never mentioned that she was a victim. I love when she talked about that kid who’s along in the lunchroom; go up and sit down with that person. She put the focus the bully’s behavior and how it could be changed rather than emphasizing what happens to a victim.

BRAVO to her! She is bringing a LOT of attention to this issue. And her music is not bad either…great to dance around the room to!

    Hi Gerry,
Thanks for commenting! I don’t love her music but I sure love her bullying message! We need every single person who is willing to stand up against bullies…to stand up against bullies! That’s the only way the number of bullying events will begin to decline!

That was nice of her to help “different” children. Those people who said all those mean things to her should apologize to her. I think that was very rude of them. I’m not a big fan of her music either rugby. I wish you could have went to my school. ( 12 & marion ) . Thank you for reading my comment. I hope others can realize that there not so different from anyone eles.
