It’s not too late to do something special to celebrate The 4th of July. You can make up for lost time tomorrow or this coming weekend. The timing isn’t what’s important. What’s important is that you do something!
Here are a few suggestions
- Send a message to our troops to say thank you for all they are doing to make our celebrations safe. You can go to USO.org to leave a message or send a hero box to our troops.
- There are also places where you can make donations for our troops and their families right here in the United States. Just contact DoSomething.org.
- When you have your celebrations, take a moment of silence to honor our troops.
- A foundation that is very near and dear to hearts here is the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. A donation to them could make all the difference for a soldier with a SCI because of the groundbreaking research that they are doing. Please think about making a contribution to the Reeve Foundation.
- You can also show that you care by thinking of a neighbor or a lonely relative and inviting them to share in your fun. This is such a special day. Nobody should be alone.
- You can also celebrate the 4th of July by going green. If not today, then the next time you have a barbeque, avoid using disposable plates and utensils.
Remember that it isn’t the time you remember to say thank you and remember those who have given so much, it’s that you do remember.
If you have any other ideas, please share them. You will, okay?
Happy 4th of July everyone!
