Bullying: Remember the Toddler

For those of you who have kids, little brothers or sisters, nieces or nephews… how do you feel about them?

When they were little and reached for your hand while walking, what did you feel?

Did you ever take them Trick or Treating and comfort them when they were afraid someone’s mask?

Do you remember helping them learn to ride a bike only to see them lose their balance and fall? Do you remember running to them and snatching them up to hold them as tightly as possible to let them know that everything would be okay?

When you wiped  away their tears, what went through your mind? My guess is that you thought, I’m sorry I didn’t do a better job to keep you from getting hurt.

Did your thoughts run along the lines of,  I am here for you and will always help you in any way I can. Don’t be afraid because I will always try to protect you.

These are the exact feelings that we must hold onto when it comes to protecting children from the pain of bullies.
