Bullying success depends so very much on the self esteem and attitude of the person… or animal who is being bullied. I can think of no better example than a little dog named “Rocko” who is my neighbor.
He is not a large or commanding type of dog. He is beautifully groomed, small, white and clearly a mama’s boy. While he demands attention and respect – even if he didn’t, I guarantee that his family would never allow him to be left alone!
If he were a child, he would be the kind of boy who could be the target of bullying because of his appearance. He is so handsome that he is almost pretty. This little dog was given a wonderful gift. He was given the gift of the name, “Rocko” which is the perfect name for his personality.
“Rocko” can teach all kids such a lesson. He knows that when you have a conf
ident attitude, nobody will want to “mess” with you. It doesn’t matter if you are small, handsome, pretty, intelligent, talented or whatever. What matters is that you show the world by how you carry yourself that you believe and take pride in the person… or dog… that you are and let everyone know that you are confident.
This little fellow has the world wrapped around his little finger… or more accurately… his little paw. When you think about how you can help your child to have more power when confronted with bullies, think about little “Rocko.”
Don’t forget that he is the the little pretty boy who will not tolerate anyone pushing him around. Look into those confident and piercing eyes. Is “Rocko” cool or what?
