A Random Act of Kindness: Giving The Shoes Off His Feet

We hear about so many bad, unkind and evil actions on the part of people in today’s world. You know what I mean. The new is filled with bad news every day. When good news is shared, we must take heed because, after all, isn’t that what we want to hear? Doesn’t just one good story stand out in our minds? Isn’t it just one random act of kindness that can change a life?

This is a story that brought tears to many eyes and warmth to many hearts. It is a story of understanding, kindness and compassion. This is a true story about a hero.

A bus driver in Winnipeg, Canada changed the life of a homeless man and changed the thought processes of the many people who saw what he did or heard the story.

Kris Doubledee was driving his bus in the downtown area of Winnipeg on Monday when he saw a homeless man walking barefoot. Doubledee is quoted as saying, “I asked the Lord: Just ease his pain, because he has no shoes…” The next day, at the same place and time, Doubledee saw the same man hobbling down the street, again without shoes.

What happened next was a random act of kindness on the part of this caring bus driver. He pulled the bus to the side of the road and took off the shoes he had on his own feet and gave them to the homeless man.  With his task completed, Doubledee returned to his bus to continue driving his route but now without his shoes.

Doubledee stated humbly, “Just slow down a bit and pay attention to your brother and sister, and help them out.”

What random act of kindness can you do today? How about tomorrow?

“I felt sorry for myself because I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet.” ~Unknown
