The Strong Are Not Afraid To Be Kind

Today has been one filled with emotion because of my witnessing strength and kindness and sensitivity in the face of adversity. Others have said it better than I ever could so I would like to share some of their words with you.

  • Greatness lies, not in being strong, but in the right using of strength; and strength is not used rightly when it serves only to carry a man above his fellows for his own solitary glory. He is the greatest whose strength carries up the most hearts by the attraction of his own. ~ Henry Ward Beecher
  • The little people must be sacred to the big ones, and it is from the rights of the weak that the duty of the strong is comprised. ~Victor Hugo
  • How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these. ~ George Washington Carver
  • The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. ~ Mahatma Gandhi
  • He who conquers others is strong; He who conquers himself is mighty. ~ Lao Tzu
  • Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong. ~ Leo Buscalia
